East Webster softball off to 2-0 district start

It never hurts to have good pitching and make routine plays when it
comes to fast-pitch softball.

In fact, that’s exactly the formula the Lady Wolverines of East
Webster High School have used to get off to a quick start in district
play.

East Webster took a 5-2 win over Hamilton last Thursday and coupled
that with a 5-1 win over Ackerman on Tuesday to go to 2-0 in the vision.

“It always help to get out to a good start,” said EWHS head coach Lee
Berryhill.”Our pitchers throw strikes, we make the plays behind them
and then try to scratch out some runs.”

Even in Monday’s 3-0 non-league loss to Mooreville on Monday in the
Houston Tournament, EW had two of those elements going in the
positive direction.

“Our pitcher (Abigail Rish) kept us in the ballgame, but we just
couldn’t get back-to-back hits,” Berryhill said. “We had every
opportunity in that game, but couldn’t push anybody across (the plate).

East Webster is set to visit Eupora today (Thursday), before hosting
Calhoun City at 6 p.m. on Friday. Next week the Lady Wolverines visit
district foes Hamilton on Tusday and Ackerman on Thursday.
