Sales tax revenue down in county

November sales tax collections were down from the same month a year earlier in Eupora and Mathiston, according to the latest Mississippi Department of Revenue report.

Eupora’s November sales tax revenues were $34,531, a 2.12 percent decrease from November 2011’s $35,280.

Collections since the 2013 state fiscal year began July 1 total $210,847, a decrease of 0.8 percent from the $212,588 collected during the same period last year.

In Mathiston, November collections were $15,045, down 5.14 percent from $15,861 in November 2011. Fiscal year-to-date collections are $92,254, a decrease of 4.88 percent from the $96,995 collected during same period last year.

Sales are reported in the month of the consumer purchases and municipalities receive sales tax money two months later.

These figures reflect other area taxes collected on November sales with 2011 figures in parentheses:
