From School Reports
Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 12 to 18. Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but they are self-governing and self-supporting.
Each year, Interact clubs complete at least two community service projects, one of which furthers international understanding and goodwill. Through these efforts, Interactors develop a network of friendships with local and overseas clubs and learn the importance of
• Developing leadership skills and personal integrity • Demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others • Understanding the value of individual responsibility and hard work • Advancing international understanding and goodwill
The Eupora High School Interact club has worked on three projects this school year. Club members met in the home of Stan and Lyn Blaylock to work on puppets for the North Mississippi Hospital-Eupora emergency room.
Students stuffed, sewed and created puppets. Other members from Eupora’s Twentieth Century Club were there to help. The Rotary and Twentieth Century clubs furnished food for the work night.
Interact club members assisted the Eupora Rotary Club in its annual Christmas Parade by helping patrons line up for the parade and on the parade route. The Eupora Rotary Club has sponsored free dictionaries to local third-graders. The Interact club members labeled all dictionaries and assisted in the distribution of the dictionaries.
The Interact club of EHS is an active group of teenagers who are willing to volunteer of their time to give back to their community. Under the leadership of the Eupora Rotary Club, teenagers learn the importance of volunteerism and community service. The addition of the Interact club has been a step in promoting good citizenship.
The Interact club officers are President Brad Blaylock, Vice President Trey Pittman, Secretary Mary Kathryn Brister and Reporter Madison Smith.
