Market, parade deemed success

From Staff Reports

Local officials have deemed Saturday’s Eupora Christmas Market and Parade successful events. “Let Freedom Ring with the Bells of Christmas” was their theme.

“It was a very successful daylong event,” Mayor Tommy Lott said of both. “We appreciate all the ones who made it happen.”

Around 35 vendors were set up along North Dunn Street and in the Depot for the ninth annual Christmas Market. Vendors reported substantial sales for the day.

Pre-market events included Christmas tree lighting and carols in the Depot Park on Nov. 29 and Friday night’s Miss Merry Christmas Pageant. Besides vendors, market-related activities Saturday included photos at the library, the Band Booster Draw Down, musical performances and the Eupora Christmas Parade.

The parade included three bands among its 30 entries: Eupora High, East Webster High and Holmes.

Winning floats were North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora, first place; First Baptist Church’s Golden Circle Sunday School class, second place; and Community Counseling Services’ CCS Express, third place.

Volunteers organized this year’s market with Stephanie Stewart coordinating. The Eupora Rotary Club sponsors the parade annually.
